About The Site
History
Suburban Roads Magazine started back in August of 2005, when the founder (Cathy) decided that it was time for her to leave the site that she had been working for, in order to start up her own. The name 'Suburban Roads' was chosen from the lyrics of a song that she happens to be quite fond of. She thought it fit well as an e-zine name, thus Suburban Roads was born. For over half a year, Suburban Roads was a one-man website, completely run by Cathy. However, as this got progressively more difficult to do solo, she expanded the site slightly and called upon the help of some others (see Staff Info to see who else is currently working for Suburban Roads Magazine).
Suburban Roads Magazine is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Inspiration
The site was started up for a variety of reasons. For starters, it was a pretty cool idea. Ever since I had seen an e-zine for the first time, I knew it was something that I wanted to be involved in. The idea of being able to interview bands and ask them questions that I've always wondered about excited me. I also enjoy taking pictures, and I thought this would be a great excuse for me to pull out my camera at shows. In addition to that, I've been interesting in working in the music business for a few years now, and I figured that working and owning an e-zine now could possibly help me on my way to achieving this goal in the future.
