Teddy Geiger, "Underage Thinking" (5/5)

Some of you are probably looking at this review right now, curiously wondering why on earth I have chosen to waste my time to review some “typical pop CD” for my alternative music magazine. Well, my answer is this: this is no typical pop CD.

There is a clear reason why Teddy Geiger has been all over the music industry lately – he’s actually good. At just 17 years old, Geiger has already accomplished more than most aspiring artists could ever dream of doing in their lifetime. He has not only been on two television shows (The New Partridge Family and Love Monkey), but he also just came out with his first solo record, “Underage Thinking”.

“Underage Thinking” is a mellow, pop rock album filled with addicting rhythms and steady beats that stay in your mind for hours after you listen to the CD. These mature tunes consist of lyrics about good love, bad love, and in between love. For someone so young, he sure knows a lot about love. His voice, which is comparable to that of John Mayer, easily appeals to both young and old audiences alike.

When listening to this record, I especially liked the diversity he shows in his songs. Often times, bands come out with albums that have songs that, coincidentally, all sound the same. But “Underage Thinking” is different than that. Every song on the album is original, leaving the listener with a wide and pleasant variety of music to listen to.

This is one of those CDs that you will not only love, but your parents will also applaud you for (I would know – my mom can’t get enough of this album). There is no doubt in my mind that this album is a great addition for anyone’s pop-rock music collection.
