Paramore, “All We Know Is Falling” (4/5)

Paramore, a recent addition to Fueled By Ramen’s list of artists, is one of those bands that considerably surpassed my expectations. Their debut CD, “All We Know Is Falling”, is a rhythmic, upbeat album that restored my faith in so-called “typical girl bands”.

This CD caught my interest within the first few seconds, right as 16-year-old singer Hayley Williams belted out the first lines of the song, “All We Know”. Surprisingly enough, it wasn’t the lyrics to the song that grabbed my attention; rather, it was how her voice sounded. Williams’ voice is unique as well as original, and it’s definitely not something you tend to hear everyday. To me, her voice is what distinguishes Paramore from all of the other bands that are around today.

The consistent melodies, mixed with the singer’s smooth voice, is what kept me absorbed in this album’s songs. I happily listened to it from start to finish, with my only real complaint about it being that sometimes the guitar riffs were too closely related to each other from song to song.

Contrary to what people might say, Paramore has proven that having a girl in a band does not necessarily make them a “typical girl band”. They have developed into something slightly out of the ordinary, and I for one like it.
