Limbeck, “Let Me Come Home” (5/5)

Limbeck, a Southern California band that has been defined by many as being “alt-country”, is a perfect example of what the music industry currently needs more of. Their new album, “Let Me Come Home” happens to be just what the doctor ordered.

This record, which was released in August of this year, is loaded with appealing hooks and melodies that are similar to Limbeck’s style from previous albums, but slightly altered into something fresh and distinct. As they said themselves, this album is definitely more raw, thumbly, grumbly, and even bumbly than their last one.

The lyrics to the seventh song on the CD, “Names For Dogs”, particularly stand out to me. This song, which talks about our current generation’s lack of contribution to the planet, gives a unique perspective on some- thing that many people haven’t really given much thought to. Lyrics like, “I don’t know what my generation is; what have we created for our children?” and “We’ve just made a lot of smog and names for dogs we shouldn’t be proud to pass along” strongly encourage the listener to think about what is going on in the world around us.

“Let Me Come Home” is one of those remarkable CDs that puts a band ‘on the radar’, so to say. It would be a terrific addition to anyone’s CD collections, and I strongly encourage everyone to buy it.
