Hellogoodbye, "OMG HGB DVD ROTFL" (4/5)

Hellogoodbye is one of those bands that never fails to amuse me. Seriously. When the band decided to come out with a DVD, they wanted to make it so they could keep fans occupied while they recorded their full length CD. OMG HGB DVD ROTFL features a whole live show taped at the House Of Blues in Anaheim, music videos from every song on their EP, a 30-minute tour documentary, a photo gallery, and more.

The House of Blues show includes songs, both old and new, that entertain the audience in foot tapping rhythms and leave us wanting more. Some of the newer songs that were played during in the show include “Oh, It Is Love” and “Here In Your Arms”, which were previously unreleased tracks. This taping is a perfect depiction of the adrenaline pumped energy that goes on during shows. This is a must-see part of the DVD, especially if you have never seen Hellogoodbye live before.

The music videos that were made for the DVD were crazy, to say the least. While watching them, I often wondered how they managed to create the videos and keep a straight face at the same time. You should be sure to watch these if you like the beach, tennis, and food smeared all over your body.

Though all of the DVD was good, the tour documentary was, without a doubt, my favorite part of the DVD. It was a hilarious collection of random footage that was shot during their west coast tour during the summer of ’05, when they went on the road with The Rocket Summer, JamisonParker, and Houston Calls. In this section, you can see such things as: the band getting lost, Gatorade being poured down Jesse’s pants, and more! I’m not going to give it all away, but if you know where to look, you can also see me in this section of the DVD.

Overall, the DVD served its purpose. Now that I’ve seen this, all I can do is eagerly await the release of their full length.
