House Of Fools – Josh King
C = Cath, J = Josh
C: For the record, state your name and what you do in the band.
J: Josh King, Singer and Guitarist
C: While I was looking up information on your band, I came across a Russian movie called "House Of Fools". Is that where your band's name originated from, or is it just some crazy coincidence?
J: Coincidence, but it kicks ass because Bryan Adams is in that movie – the “Robin Hood theme song” Bryan Adams.
C: Why was the band name changed from ‘The Necessary’ to ‘House Of Fools’?
J: They are actually two completely separate projects. A few of us from House of Fools played in The Necessary, but we decided to try something new on the side. As the side project got more attention, we decided to make it our full-time band and thus named it House of Fools.
C: Your self-titled EP was released recently on Drive-Thru Records. Overall, how have people been responding to it?
J: People really seem to hate it… just kidding. The response has been so positive, and we are greatly appreciative of that.
C: What is your favorite song on the EP & why?
J: “Let’s Follow”, because it was the first song that Matt and I recorded for the demos that would become House of Fools.
C: Do you have any plans yet for a full-length album?
J: Yes, it is already recorded and will be released March 6, 2007.
C: What bands are you currently listening to?
J: Tom Petty & Sirius Satellite Radio.
C: What albums have influenced you (musically) the most?
J: Beach Boys “Pet Sounds”, The Beatles “Abbey Road”, Grandaddy “Sumday”, Ryan Cabrera “Anything He Has Ever Written”.
C: If you could choose any animal to be House Of Fools’ mascot, what would you choose? Why?
J: A Sasquatch, because it closely resembles our merch guy (he is quite attractive if you like Sasquatches).
C: You just finished up a tour with Steel Train. Do you have any interesting stories you could share from it?
J: Yes, we had a great BBQ while we were all in our hometown of Greensboro. A couple of our guys and a couple of the guys from Steel Train played hot potato with hot coals. We were definitely not consuming any alcohol at that time. Don’t believe anyone who tells you otherwise.
C: If you were stuck on a deserted island with no food and no one but your band members, who would you eat first & why?
J: Phil, because he has the most meat.
C: Any closing statements/things you would like to add?
J: We want to thank everyone who has purchased our EP or come out to a show. Our full-length comes out on March 6, 2007 so definitely check that out. We really appreciate all of the support.
